Hello everybody,
Apart from sulking about how cold it is in England, we at Also Ran have been busy fixing up our new website, with help from Albi Design, and are happy with the new look.
We’ve promo’d the forthcoming release, ‘Least Effort’, and are pleased to report that the EP has generated support from big boys like Danny Tenaglia, Ashley Beedle, Layo, Terry Francis and Norman Nodge among others.
In the pipeline we have an EP on the way from Martin Dawson- the man behind King Roc and Two Armadillos (with Giles Smith). We got the masters last week and the tracks sound amazing, we’ll have them up on the site next month.
We noticed a recent campaign aimed at saving our beloved Technics 1210’s from extinction. It took our man Patrizio the last 5 years to accept the decline of vinyl and the emergence of the download, and we reckon it’s no coincidence that a lot of heads stopped caring about house music around the same time DJ’s started turning up to gigs with laptops. You can’t deny progress, it’s true, but Paddy will still rock the wax whenever possible (basically when flights are not involved).
Last thing, Patrizio has been working on some tracks with his new hardware set-up, with pleasing results. The tones, textures and the ‘hands on’ musicality of his Moog are definitely inspiring creativity and energy. You’ll hear the results in the Spring, hopefully you’ll dig.
